Researcher at the Department of Geography, Ruhr University Bochum. Dr Inostroza belongs to the Society of urban ecology and he is a chartered member of the Royal institute of British architects and member of the European land institute. Dr. Inostroza focus his research interest on spatial evolution of urban systems, their physical, economic and ecological effects on land use land cover changes, land markets and urban policy, with special attention to dynamics of urban systems in Latin America and Europe.

ROLF BAUR — CO-AUThOR

Since November 2005, Dr Rolf Baur is the managing director of the Centre for international postgraduate studies of environmental management, TU Dresden. He studied at TU Berlin, IIT Madras and obtained his first degree in civil engineering (Urban engineering) from Wuppertal University. After his Phd at TU Dresden, he has been working as a researcher at INSA Lyon (France), and again at TU Dresden in the position of a senior researcher, and a freelance engineer (Baur & Kropp) consulting urban utilities in their asset management. His research focused on the rehabilitation of ageing infrastructure and the asset management of technical infrastructure networks, with working and teaching experience in Europe, North America, Africa and China.

Director of the Institute of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, TU Dresden and Chair of Remote Sensing at the Institute of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, TU Dresden with a broad experience on Remote sensing Technologies which includes: Remote Sensing for Multi-Scale Environmental Monitoring, Geographical Information Analysis for Multi-Scale Environmental Monitoring, Landcover Change Detection, Digital Terrain Modelling, Tropical Deforestation Mapping, Appropriate Technologies in Remote Sensing and GIS, Transnational Networking with Spatial Information Systems. PhD in Remote Sensing at the Technical University of Vienna (Austria), Post-doc scientist at the Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique (INRA) Montpellier, Post-doc scientist at the Department of Geology, Geophysics and Geoinformatics, Free University of Berlin (Germany), Habilitation in Remote Sensing at the Technical University of Vienna (Austria). Professional experience: Transdisciplinary Projects, e.g. in Bangladesh, Ethiopia, India, Mali, Sudan, Syria, Yemen and in different regions of Europe.
